Report

Ten National B ANWCC entries accompanied six Clubman crews to do battle on the C&A MC Car Trial on Sunday 24th September at Rhuddlan Bach Farm, Brynteg. The event is run in memory of Rob "Boded" Roberts who was a very active competitor and organiser in the 90's and 00's and was Clerk of the Course on several of C&A's Autotests, Trials and Road Rallies.
During the drivers briefing at 10am the rain arrived, and hardly let up all day. However, with sections set out with this in mind, the competitors had smiles all day, especially Kevin and Sion in the open-topped Dutton who were covered in mud and whatever else the cows had left behind.
There were four normal trial hills set out, all very wide with a choice of line, some of which were green for a while. But most favoured the timed test where even the front wheel drive cars were sideways in the mud.

Rupert North was again victorious in his yellow Mini in the National B event, whilst Steven McEnhill won the Clubman section in his VTR. Notable C&A members were Will Hughes getting some useful ANWCC points in the National B section, while Deio Hughes shared the MG ZR, but in the Clubman event. Carwyn Griffiths and Iwan Torr enjoyed the new experience of trialling, but the shared Micra was short on traction, as was Junior driver Ben Jones' Fiesta Mk5. But the best C&A performance was Dave "Stavros" Jones who finally delivered on his threat to return to competition after a sabbatical of decades, finishing best C&A and 2nd O/A Clubman in his Nissan Micra.

We cannot end without a shout out of thanks to the marshals who stood out in the rain and mud all day. Take a bow Paul Cross, Ieuan Roberts, Tecwyn Jones, Jamie Jones, Duncan and Dafydd for the pics and to Sion Môn for providing warm food and drinks.

Basic Information

This is a dual permit Clubman and National B event, which is a qualifying round for the ANWCC Trials Championship; the ANWCC All-rounders Championship; the ANWCC Marshals’ Championship; the Glynne Edwards Memorial Championship; and the C&A Motor Club championships.
The venue is accessed from the B5110 between Benllech and Llangefni at O.S. Map 114/483½810¼.

The Trial fields have everything from shallow climbs to near vertical on a relatively smooth surface. The venue access is good even for trailers and we hope to create some challenging tests for both specialised trials cars and modern low-slung Class 1 cars.
With some thought and planning this event promises to be an enjoyable day’s motorsport no matter the weather, or what car you drive.
Public road sections will not be used to link sections, as the whole event takes place on private property. There will be a refreshments van and port-a-loo on-site on the day.
