Report
This was the second edition of the charity run version of the Tour of Anglesey, although this time the majority of the route was on the mainland.
Early morning, pre signing-on, there was rain in the air but it soon disappeared and the rest of the day was dry and thankfully cooler than earlier in the week. Fifty seven crews gathered at the start venue at Morgan Evans & Co Ltd, Gaerwen, and issued with their route information and rally plates by Paul Cross and Dafydd Edwards. Two crews sadly did not make the start; one due to a breakdown and the other suffering the misfortune of locking their keys in the boot when they stopped for petrol.
After a drivers' briefing by organiser Ilan Rhys the cars set off on the first part of the route led by the course cars of Arron Whitmore and Dion Bee heading for Llithfaen via a circuit of Caernarfon, then the A4086 to Pen-y-Pass and on to Beddgelert, Rhyd Ddu, Penygroes and Clynnog Fawr. The lunch halt was at Motorsport Tools where refreshments were available from Nia Roberts Catering, who had also been at the start for those who needed a coffee and bacon/sausage bap breakfast.
At lunch there was an opportunity to have a look around the MST Cars garages and take in the amazing facilities.
The afternoon section departed the Motorsport Tools facility and headed south, then east for Y Ffor, Criccieth and Porthmadog, then to Ffestiniog and over the Migneint to Ysbyty Ifan to reach the A5 and head for Betws-y-Coed, Bethesda and back to Morgan Evans & Co Ltd, Gaerwen for the finish.
With all crews safely back, the raffle prizes were drawn and it was announced that the event had raised at least £2,600 for the LimbBo Foundation UK,
The organisers thank everyone for their support and look forward to welcoming everyone next year..
Many thanks to all the sponsors for their valuable contributions: Ceir Seiont Cars, Bragdy Lleu, Gwynedd Skips, Robert & Owen, Eltec Auto Parts, ALR Electrical, Garej Arwyn, Pant Glas Body Repairs and Harlech Frozen Foods.
