It was a fine morning at the Trearddur Bay Hotel for the start of the 2026 Anglesey Windmill Tour on Sunday 9th August. Organisers Steve McEnhill and Simon Drakley where on hand to direct the participants to park in the paddock adjoining the hotel car park. Vehicle registration numbers had already been registered in order to avoid any penalties from the company monitoring the parking area.
Club treasurer Dafydd Edwards was in charge of signing-on in the function room, which had been hastily tidied and cleaned following a wedding party the previous evening. The hotel's garden refreshments cabin had been kindly opened early to serve hot and cold drinks and a variety of cooked breakfast baps.

An interesting variety of twenty-threes cars left the start at 10am (see list of entries below), ranging from a Westfield, Lotus Cortina, Mini and Maestro Van to a Series 1 Land Rover. The route instructions were issued in tulip form but a marked map was on display at signing-on to provide additional assurance. Crews were asked to note the number of windmills they passed along the route and had the option to answer some quiz questions.
The initial part of the Tour headed towards South Stack, through Holyhead, returning to Trearddur Bay, then to Penrhos and Valley. From Valley, cars completed a loop north towards Porth Swtan and Rhydwyn, then south-west to Trefor and on to Bryngwran. From Bryngwran the last few miles took in Pencarnisiog and Llanfaelog before the finish at Trac Môn.
This was the weekend of the Anglesey Autofest and the crews lined up for a group photo before driving on a parade lap of part of the circuit.

Thanks go to Simon and Steve for organising the event, Islwyn Jones for taking the photos, The Trearddur Bay Hotel for hosting the start, and the organisers of Anglesey Autofest for hosting the finish.
