The latest information on how the pandemic has affected our Club events.

The Covid-19 pandemic shows no signs of easing and is giving rise to continued uncertainty as we try to plan our calendar of events. With cases rising and regions of the UK again going into various periods of lockdown, a return to normality appears to be a long way off.
Our last event was the Valentine Road Rally back in February and the list of cancellations since then includes the MAS Car Trial, Taith Eryri, Kennings Autotest, Rali Môn, Targa Rally, Glyn Memorial Stages and J.J.Brown Memorial Rally. The Annual General Meeting was not held and there has been no actual meeting of the club’s committee since February, although members have kept in touch and recently there have been virtual meetings via Zoom.
With our 2020 calendar being cut so short, and with so few qualifying events, it is the committee’s decision that there will be no club championship awards this year.

As for 2021, the current thinking is that it will be some time before we will be able to put on a road rally. One of the main requirements in organising a road rally is carrying out PR work as per Motorsport UK regulations, which means visiting properties on the proposed route and this is clearly not feasible under the current restrictions. Another factor is the issue of cars being crewed by people from different households or ‘bubbles’, which also comes into play for PCAs and navigation runs.
However, there is some likelihood that autotests will be able to take place as long as measures are taken to maintain social distancing and limit the number of people together in one group. With this in mind, a team is looking into organising the popular Stuff The Turkey Autotest at Trac Môn on 27th December. The venue lends itself to having a good separation between test sites, with groups of competitors and officials up to the permitted maximum number moving from test to test together throughout the day. Further information will be posted as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we hope that by abiding by the government guidance and restrictions we can help towards a full return to our motorsport activities as soon as possible.
