We are very sorry to learn of the passing of Robert (Bob) Gartside, a valued member of the C&A Motor Club’s committee during the 1990s and early 2000s, including a period as vice-chairman. He was softly spoken, the voice of reason, always approachable, a good listener and gave valuable advice from his broad depth of knowledge - a true gentleman. Those local to Llanberis will remember him as the pharmacist at Compton House.
Bob was an excellent navigator and competed on many events, far and wide. He loved all cars but was most enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about older vehicles. He also loved railways and after retiring keenly supported the Welsh Highland Railway. He would never be shy of having a go at anything; fearless and enjoying every moment.
He will be sorely missed, and we send our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Bob’s family.
