The 2018 ANWCC championships have concluded and final tables published.

C&AMC Club and members win awards

The 2018 Association of North Western Car Clubs (ANWCC) championships have reached their conclusion and we can report that the Club and C&A Motor Club members feature prominently in the lists of award winners. Congratulations to them all!

Club Championship
After narrowly losing out to Knutsford and District Motor Club in 2016 and 2017, C&A Motor Club wins the 2018 ANWCC Inter-Club Championship. Although our club was leading the table for much of the year, the final result was in doubt until the last weekend of qualifying rounds. Thanks to good results for Gareth Jones and Gruff Parry on the Eagle Rally the top spot is confirmed by just twelve points. Knutsford take second place and Bolton-le-Moors Car club are third.
Thanks, and well done to all the C&A members who registered for various ANWCC championships and scored points to contribute towards the total.

Marshals’ Championship
Although the table has not been finalised, the main positions are unlikely to change significantly, and we find four C&A members in the top ten. Comfortably taking the award for best Junior Marshal and in sixth position overall is Catrin Jôs – many congratulations! Finishing fifth is Laura Jôs, Paul Cross is ninth and Rob Jôs is tenth. Also scoring points are Ieuan Roberts, Rhian Jones and Huw Gwyn Jones.

Stage Rally Championship.
The final round was our own Pentraeth Automotive Group Glyn Memorial Stages on 24th/25th November and the standings show C&A member Chloe Thomas to be the champion co-driver and first Junior – quite an achievement at only 17 years old, possibly the youngest ever winner of an ANWCC championship and huge congratulations to her. Congratulations also to Tomos Williams for taking the second Junior co-driver award and, also, second Class A co-driver.
In the drivers’ section, Gethin Jones finished as a very creditable fifth overall, first in Class A and second Junior. Eric Roberts did not repeat his championship win of 2017, scoring on only five events, but still ending up at eighth driver overall and winning Class C.
In twelfth position overall, Berwyn Evans takes the award for 2nd Novice driver, whilst daughter Mari is tenth co-driver overall and first in Class D and Merfyn Williams is first Class C co-driver.
Other C&A members to score points in the drivers’ section were Huw Gwyn Jones and Wil Owen and as co-drivers, Dylan Thomas (ninth overall), Siôn Cunniff, Will Hughes, Iwan Pritchard and Peredur Davies.
